Press Complaints Commission

The Press Complaints Commission is an independent body set up to deal with complaints about the editorial content of newspapers and magazines (and their websites) and the conduct of journalists who work for print media.

The PCC is funded by the annual levy it charges newspapers and magazines; with the Code of Practice being drawn up by editor's themselves, covering how the news is gathered and reported, as well as the editorial content of newspapers, magazines, their websites and the conduct of journalists. It includes:
  • Accuracy
  • Opportunity to reply
  • Privacy
  • Harassment
  • Intrusion into grief and shock
  • Children
  • Children in sex cases
  • Hospitals
  • Reports of crime
  • Clandestine devices and subterfuge
  • Victims of sexual assault
  • Discrimination
  • Financial journalism
  • Confidential sources
  • Witness payments in trials
  • Payment to criminals
